Digi Yatra: The Future of Air Travel in India

Digi Yatra is a Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India initiative designed to make air travel seamless, hassle-free, and health-risk-free. The platform uses a single token of face biometrics to digitally validate identity, travel, health, and other necessary data, enabling smooth air travel.

How Digi Yatra Works

Digi Yatra technology facilitates passenger entry to the airport and pre-security areas using a Face Recognition System. This significantly reduces processing time. By linking your travel and identity documents in advance and creating a facial scan, passengers can avoid showing boarding passes or identity cards during arrival, bag drop, or boarding.

The platform is built on four pillars:

  • Connected Passengers
  • Connected Flying
  • Connected Airports
  • Connected Systems

This ensures easy entry at all checkpoints, faster processing, and a seamless boarding experience.

Registration/Enrolment

Registration is a one-time process. For each new travel instance, simply add the new travel document and share your credentials prior to travel. Currently, only Aadhaar is accepted, with plans to integrate additional government-issued IDs in the future.

How to Register on Digi Yatra

  1. Download the Digi Yatra App from Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and register using your mobile number (Aadhaar-linked required) and OTP.
  2. Link your Identity Credentials via DigiLocker or Aadhaar and verify using OTP.
  3. Upload a selfie when prompted. Ensure your picture is clear and unobstructed.
  4. Update your Boarding Pass on the Digi Yatra App and share with the departure airport. Ensure names match across Aadhaar, boarding pass, and flight ticket.

Note: If you haven’t downloaded the app, you can register at the airport kiosk on the day of travel.

Airports Supporting Digi Yatra

This facility is currently activated at more than 24 airports across India, with more being added soon.
